Itinerary

DAY 1. CITY TOUR & TRAVEL TO ERDENET CITY BY TRAIN

The first day of your Khuvsgul lake trip begins from your hotel in Ulaanbaatar, proceeding to the Zaisan Memorial, a tall landmark situated atop a hill. Following your exploration of Zaisan, you will visit the Bogd Khaan Palace and Sukhbaatar Square. The adventure continues as you make your way to the Ulaanbaatar train station to board a train to Erdenet city, the third-largest city in Mongolia, renowned for housing forth-largest copper mine in the world.

DAY 2. TRAVEL TO KHUVSGUL LAKE NATIONAL PARK

Upon your arrival in Erdenet city in the morning, your local driver will greet you and take you on a brief tour of the city before heading to Khuvsgul, the northernmost province of Mongolia. Around 8 AM, stop for breakfast in an outdoor setting. Once you reach the national park, you will have the opportunity to explore Khuvsgul Lake, often referred to as a dark blue pearl, measuring 137 kilometers in length and 262 meters in depth. You will spend two nights here engaging in activities such as horseback riding, hiking, and driving up to a picturesque mountain to enjoy a panoramic view of Mongolian largest freshwater lake. One of the best ways to enjoy the serenity of Khuvsgul Lake is to simply unwind by the the shore and watch the sunset.

DAY 3. KHUVSGUL LAKE EXCURSION & HORSEBACK RIDING

On your second day in Khuvsgul Lake National Park, your horseback riding trip will begin following a hearty breakfast, continuing towards Hyasaa Mountain with a scenic drive that showcases the stunning view of Khuvsgul Lake.

DAY 4. TO URAN TOGOO NATURAL MONUMENT

Set off on a tour to the Uran Togoo Natural Monument, an extinct volcano that is approximately 20 million years old, located in Bulgan Province. In addition to Uran Togoo, the national park features several other craters, including Tulga, Togoo, and Jalavch Mountains, situated 12 kilometers south of Uran Mountain, which erupted during the Quaternary period. The mountain provides a trekking experience filled with a scenic landscape, intriguing cultural interactions, and the opportunity to visit a nomadic family to gain insight into the nomadic way of life.

DAY 5. TO AMARBAYASGALANT MONASTERY

Embark on a spiritual journey to northeast Mongolia to reach Amarbayasgalant Monastery, a historic monastery and the biggest Buddhist school in Mongolia. The monastery was constructed in 1736 and has survived destruction during anti-religious purges. 28 temples rich in wood carvings and religious artifacts inside the monastery walls housed over 5000monks during its flourishing period. A golden Buddha statue and phenomenal stupa on the hilltop backyard of the monastery wall offer great panoramic views of the surroundings.

DAY 6. BACK TO ULAANBAATAR CITY

After a hearty breakfast, head back to Ulaanbaatar city. En route, you'll stop on the bank of the Orkhon river, the longest river of Mongolia, for lunch. Arrive in Ulaanbaatar city around 5pm and transferred to accommodation.
