Overview

This 6-day Khuvsgul Lake tour showcases the best of Khuvsgul National Park, including a visit to Uran Togoo national park and Amarbayasgalant monastery. The Khuvsgul lake is the largest freshwater lake in Mongolia, lies in the northernmost province of the country, close to the Russian border. The lake is surrounded by forested mountains and is home to a variety of wildlife, including brown bears, grey wolves, and ibex.

Itinerary

DAY 1. CITY TOUR & TRAVEL TO ERDENET CITY BY TRAIN
The first day of your trip begins from your hotel in Ulaanbaatar to Zaisan Memorial, a tall landmark built on a hilltop. After discovering the Zaisan, you'll visit Bogd Khaan Palace and Sukhbaatar square. The journey continues to Ulaanbaatar train station to get in a train to Erdenet city, the third largest city of Mongolia.
DAY 2. DRIVE TO KHUVSGUL LAKE NATIONAL PARK
Upon your arrival in Erdenet city early in the morning, your local driver will pick you up and head out to the northernmost province of Mongolia Khuvsgul after quick explore to the city. On the way around 8am, stop for breakfast in the open air. Once arrive in the national park, you'll explore Khuvsgul lake, refers to a dark blue pearl with a length of 137km and 262m deep. Here we will spend 2 night. Activities: Horseback riding, hiking and drive up to a beautiful mountain to see a whole panoramic scenery of the biggest lake of Mongolia. In the evening after dinner, you can relax by the lake and enjoy a stunning sunset.
DAY 3. KHUVSGUL LAKE EXCURSION & HORSEBACK RIDING
On your last day in Khuvsgul Lake national park, your horseback riding trip will begin after having a hearty breakfast and continue the trip to Hyasaa Mountain with a scenic drive to view the most beautiful scenery in the Khuvsgul Lake national park.
DAY 4. TO URAN TOGOO NATURAL MONUMENT
Set off on a tour to Uran Togoo Natural Monument, a 20 million years old extinct volcano in Bulgan province. There are more craters except the Mt, Uran Togoo in the national park, namely Tulga, Togoo, and Jalavch Mountains located 12 km south of the Uran Mountain and was erupting during the Quaternary.
DAY 5. TO AMARBAYASGALANT MONASTERY
 Travel to the northeast to reach Amarbayasgalant Monastery, the biggest monastery and buddhist school in the northern Mongolia. The monastery was constructed in 1736 and has survived destruction during anti-religious purges. 28 temples rich in wood carvings and religious artifacts inside the monastery walls housed over 5000monks during its flourishing period. A golden Buddha statue and phenomenal stupa on hilltops backyard the monastery wall offer great panoramic views of surroundings.
DAY 6. BACK TO ULAANBAATAR CITY
After hearty breakfast, head back to Ulaanbaatar city. On the way, you'll stop on the bank of Orkhon river, the longest river of Mongolia. Arrive in Ulaanbaatar city around 5pm and transferred to accommodation.
